Dub - Stepping, Grooving and Grinding

Thought id give a little insight into Dubstep a very upcoming genre originating from 2 step. Some commercial artists such as Dizzee Rascal are using dubstep basslines in their work. If you listen to songs such as “I luv u” and “round we go” have massive dub influences. Dubstep allthough very distinct, is linked with many different genres. Herve and Sinden played several dubstep tracks in their mix at paradise factory while their music taste fits more to glitchy electro. Minimal techno artists suchas Ricardo Villalobos and Ellen Allien have been using heavy dub influences in their latest releases. Traces of Dubstep have been linked into Britney Spears new album track Freakshow.
Dubstep originates from London since about 2005 and is a prominantly promoted by Fabric Club. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass. The beats are slow, Dubstep rhythms are usually syncopated, and often shuffled or incorporating triplets. The tempo is nearly always in the range of 138-142bpm. Rewinds and Bass drops are always features in a live artist. Manchester has a growin dubstep scene with tangled and Monster Monster featuring dubstep artists.
If your looking dubstep music, look into Burial, Digital Mystikz, 8 Bit, Skream, Kode 9, Tayo and Headhunter. Digital Mystikz and Skream doing alot of Co-op work andprob biggest artists at the moment.

I would add that there is generally a lot of dubstep influence in Bpitch Control as a whole. Modeselektor in particular, but also Jahcoozi have cribbed from the dubsteppers.
I would also mention a couple of artists that you have forgot, namely Distance, Vex’d, Shackleton, Rusko, Vaccine, Milanese, Blackdown, Dusk and Loefah. There are more, but I think these are some of the heavy hitters right now.
I just started a blog, so if you’d like to be on my blogroll drop me a line. http://outskirting.wordpress.com.
